The Prodigy (Featuring Sleaford Mods) – Ibiza

Ibiza

There aren’t that many acts out there that actually live up to the legend status, but Essex boys The Prodigy are one of them. For over twenty years they’ve been at the forefront of the UK music scene, never far from the top slots of festivals, or the charts. They’ve just hit the top spot again with the aggressive, and aggressively titled, The Day is My Enemy, which is no surprise given their rabid fan base and the group’s previous for heading straight to the top of the pops.

One of the standouts of the new album is the Sleaford Mods featuring “Ibiza” which simmers with the kind of seven pint aggro we’ve come to expect from Mods front man Jason Williamson. We’re incredibly excited to be bringing you the world premiere of the track’s raucous video.

Howson’s Groove – Stand Up EP

HowsonsGrooveStandUpEp

Over the past twelve months Howson’s Groove have been pulling all the punches with their UK focused hybrid sound, merging the rough and smooth of House and Garage with the grit and guile of Grime and Hardcore.

These new contenders based in South London are currently being championed by the likes of Rob Da Bank, Skream and DJ EZ. They’ve been going from strength to strength ever since scoring an official remix for the one and only Todd Terry on Southern Fried Records.

Their no holds barred ‘Can’t Explain EP’, released in 2014 on Love & Other Records has served as their most recent highlight. Premiered by both DJ Mag and Eton Messy, it earned a very rare 10/10 from Mixmag, plus a huge thumbs up from The Magician.

Available 27th April 2015 on Fat! Records.

Roland System-1 V1.20 Update

System-1

System-1 owners will be very excited to hear that Roland have released a new update to their already powerful synthesizer featuring the addition of sixty four preset banks and six new oscillator waveforms. The new waveforms allow users to create classic EDM sounds made popular by software synthesizers such as Native Instruments Massive which where not previously achievable with the System-1. These include Skrillex style growling bass lines, Knife Party style talking synthesizer leads and dance-floor shredding bass cannons in the style of Flux Pavilion.

Details on the new oscillator waveforms are as follows…

● Noise Saw – A sawtooth wave with movement similar to an analog circuit.
● Logic Operation – A waveform that uses a logic circuit to combine multiple waveforms.
● FM – A frequency-modulated waveform.
● FM + Sync – Syncs a frequency-modulated waveform to the OSC pitch to produce a scale.
● Vowel – A waveform similar to human voice.
● CB – A metallic one-shot sound.

Fireteam – Logic To The Mayhem

EMF2069_01

Emotif are proud to announce a new single from regular noise makers Fireteam. Trimer, Smokesta and Mekar MC make up this London trio who have also had a recent release on sister label Botchit and Scarper. The b side ‘Memory Box’ is a murky track that brings to mind the gutter crawling bass of artists such as Blu-Mar-Ten but with the maximalist sound that Fireteam is known for.

Available 23rd March 2015 on Emotif Recordings.

Roland AIRA Modular Synthesizer

Roland AIRA have caused a stir among music tech enthusiasts this week by posting a mysterious image of what appears to be a new modular synthesizer on the home page of their web-site.

Despite the low resolution of the image it clearly shows the silhouette of a modular style synthesizer sporting the classic Roland AIRA lights.

At present there are no details available regarding the mystery product other than the accompanying text which suggests that it will be unveiled at Frankfurt Musikmesse 2015.
